In this work, as in no other hitherto published, are given full and accurateexplanations of the phenomena observed at the bedside. It is distinctly a clinicalwork by a master teacher, characterized by thoroughness, fulness, and is a mine of information upon the points that are so often passed over withoutexplanation. Especial attention has been given to the germ-theory as a factor inthe origin of disease. This valuable work is now published in German, English, Russian, and issue of a third American edition within two years indicates the favor with whichit has been received by the profession.
