Sight records seem to indi- cate that this species arrives after the Long-billed Dowitcher in the spring and before it in the fall. Spring sight records are from 21 April to 8 June, and fall records from 9 July to 10 October. Ed Martinez netted a bird at Cheyenne Bottoms on 24 September. Habits and Habitat: This dowitcher winters primarily along seacoasts. Although there are subspecies nesting inland, most birds tend to migrate to the coastal areas and not through Kansas.
