Unusually the broch has two opposed entrances, the wider, main passage at the W has two door checks & a guard cell on either side. The broch was excavated in 1914 by Countess Vincent Baillet de Latour FSA (Scot), a Roman terracotta model of a bale of hides or fleeces was found.
