Lalish, Yazidi Holy city in Northern Iraq - woman making knots as ritual of expressing desire in the temple


Inside the temple pilgrims are making knots on the scarves to symbolize desires. Every year from 6th to 13th of october, thousand of Yazidis - ancient religion tht have root in zoroastrism - come in Lalish, their Holy City in Kurdistan between Duhok and the iraqi town of Mosul. This year, because the high risk of terrorism, the annual festival in coincidence with the pilgramage was canceled, but many peoples cames anyway. Yazidis are a minority of in Iraqi Kurdistan plus abroad. They claim to be the most ancient religion in the world and that in Lalish was born the first human being
