Henri-Marie Blainville. Portrait of the french naturalist Henri-Marie Ducrotay de Blainville. De Blainville was a member of the French Academy of Sciences, and succeeded Curvier as chair of comparative anatomy. In 1816 de Blainville was the first to group all artiodactyls (even-toed ungulate mammals) together.
