Sir Edwin Sandys,(Centre ,1561–1629) historic head of the Virginia Company , pictured on the tomb of his father the Archbishop of York who bore the same name. He notably in 1617 led negotiations with the Leyden Puritans that led to the journey in 1520 of the Mayflower and the Pilgrim Fathers.
