Following the massive success of the Beatles in America, the Monkees were assembled in Los Angeles to act and play the part of a pop group in a TV series and as such were regarded as a manufactured group well before the era of Pop Idol, American Idol and the X Factor. The series ran from 1966 to 1968 on NBC and the Monkees were an instant success with hit records, tours and a movie. The band members were Davy Jones, Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith. Their hits included 'I'm a Believer' and 'Last Train to Clarksville'.These 6 souvenir badges measure about 23 mm across (just under an inch) - a vintage nineteen sixties item for editorial use only.
