We engrave the Bogota postmark. so generally seen upon the Grenadastamps. FORGED STAMPS : HOW TODETECT THEM. of Mercury to the left; blue, yellow, pink. Genuine.—(1) Eirst K on the leftside is altogether above the level ofMercurys mouth. (2) Extreme pointof the cap (to the left) points up-wards, but much below the cornerabove it (the left one). (3) Haircurly. (4) Knot on the shouldercomes directly over the P ofStampel. (5) In the blue stampsthe dots after K K (to the left), aredistinct. Eohged.—(1) It is rather below it.(2) Extreme point of the cap pointsto the left-hand top corner. (3) Haircurly, but too indistinct. (4) Thisknot is nearly as much over the E asthe P, , it conies between the twoletters. (5) The dots are not by anymeans distinct. It must be remembered that thesecond and fifth points may not beclear in every specimen, because (inboth forged and genuine Mercuries)the amount of colour on the stampsvaries exceedingly; those which havethe least amount show the abovepoints clearly.
