This house in Matanzas by one of two rivers was probably destroyed in a hurricane once. Someone just built a living space in its remains and painted the front facade to make it nice. Cubans are extremely innovative and they have learned to live on a margin. Matanzas or Cuidad de los puentes, city of bridges, has only recently been added to UNESCO Heritage Sites. Restoration of dilapidated colonial buildings has only started and the city has got a unique character.
