Church of Saint Oswald, Thornton-in-Lonsdale, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, Europe.
The ancient church of st Oswald stands near the foot of Ingleborough. Dating back to the 13th century, the tower is all that remains of the Norman church. A fire in 1933 gutted the church which was rebuilt as a replica of the 1870 church. Built in a decorative 14th century Gothic style, the work of Austin and Paley, Lancaster. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle married his first wife at this church in 1885.
