The Planters' Chronicle of Southern India reproduces in its issue for December 12, 1914, a previous article from the Agricultural News on the subject According to a communication from the International Institute of Agriculture, Rome, there are in Martinique seven agricultural syndicates which grant loans to small fanners. In Guadeloupe there are numerous agricultural syndicates, but a scarcity of capital has prevented the development of agricultural credit. According to The Times (Annual Financial Review) for January 22,1915, Great Britain looks forward at the end of this year to a complete dependence as regards sugar, on sugar- cane. It is urged that the powers of the Royal Commission should be extended so that it might investigate fully all sugar resources both within the Empire and elsewhere.
