A ballock dagger Flemish or German, 16th century. With very slender sharply tapering blade of stiff diamond section, carved faceted ebony grip formed with a pair of rounded nodules at the base, fitted with small iron crosspiece seated over a brass fillet, involving a pair of acutely arched quillons with shaped swelling tips, and faceted cap pommel, the sides engraved with a band of foliage interrupted by fleur-de-lys, and the top decorated with three brass and pewter rosette washers arranged over one another to form an expanded compound flowerhea, Additional-Rights-Clearance-Info-Not-Available
