Robert Premo, commanding officer of Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101, Marine Aircraft Group 11 (Rein.), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing during his visit to the squadron. During his visit, Zamka returned a VMFA(AW)-121 patch given to him 10 years earlier by Maj. Jay Ingwell, an instructor for the squadron. Ingwell ripped the patch off his flight suit and gave it to Zamka ten years earlier when Zamka was accepted as a NASA pilot. Ingwell, who served alongside Zamka with VMFA(AW)-121, asked him to fly the patch in outer space. Zamka returned the patch to Ingwell after his space mission, during a visit to VMFA(T)-101.
