The Labour suffered a heavy defeat under Jeremy Corbyn losing many Labour seats. Jess Phillips was a friend of murdered MP Jo Cox and has had many threats aimed at her. She is married with a family. Jess Phillips was elected to Parliament to represent Birmingham Yardley in 2015 and re-elected in the snap General Election in 2017. Before being elected Jess worked for Women's Aid, supporting female victims of domestic abuse
