1933 Adolph Hitler and President Hindenburg together (Hindenburg died the following year and Hitler assumed office. Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg, known more simply as Paul von Hindenburg was German statesman who led the Imperial German Army as General during World War I. He later became President of Germany (1925) until his death during the Weimar Republic when Hitler took over. It was he (under pressure) that appointed Hitler Chancellor of Germany.
