Head twice as long as broad, upper profile nearly straight; snout. Rasbora zanzibarensis. Type, after Playfair & Giinther (I. c). rounded, as long as eye, which is 4 times in length of head; inter- orbital width 3 times in length of head; mouth extending to below anterior border of eye; chin feebly prominent; naked space between prseoperculum and suborbitals narrow. Gill-rakers nearly as long as gill-lamellae, 13 on lower part of anterior arch. Dorsal II 7, originating midway between occiput and caudal, longest ray § length of head. Anal II 5, longest ray f- length of head. Pectoral pointed, a little shorter than head, not reaching ventral. Caudal forked. Caudal peduncle 1^ times as long as deep. Scales with numerous radiating stria?, 33 j|, 2 between lateral line and ventral, 14 round caudal peduncle. Uniform silvery. Total length 65 millim. Rovuma River, East Africa. 1. Type. Rovuma R.
