The friends of the Twenty-third in Philadelphia gave aball at Sansom Street Hall forthe benefit of the the proceeds was pur-chased six hundred pairs ofwoolen gloves, and a new standof colors containing a list of thebattles in which the regimentparticipated inscribed thereon,all being received by the regi-ment while in the field. A shorttime previously the ladies of Bucks County, friends of Col-onel Ely, sent the enlisted men ear comforters, so that the boyswere fairly protected, through the kindess of friends, from thechilly blasts of the severe JAMES TATE,Drummer.
