Water repellent glass. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of glass that has been coated with a water-repellent substance. The coating is based on the lotus (Nelumbo sp.) leaf surface, which repels water better than any other material in nature. This helps the glass to stay clean. For a comparison with untreated glass see C009/0794. Magnification: x1300 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
