Thus it happens that portions of oral plate and of theentodermal wall of Seessels pocket come to be included in the hypophysisat this stage. Stage V. 8-5 mm. (Embryos IV. 01 and 5 97).—The distal lobe(fig, 18, ) has enlarged considerably, while the proximal lobe () ismuch smaller relative to the whole buccal pouch. The duct is now reducedto a fine strand of cells, Seessels pocket and the remnant of the oral platehave disappeared completely.
