Mining review . evel. Chalcopyrite was seen in the dumps from two of the deepest shafts. Two men were working at the time, extending the drive in a direc-tion along the lode formation, and picking and dressing the ore obtained inthe course of the work. HOLMESS BLOCK. This claim forms part of the Elsie Adair Options, or Amalgamated Cop-per Syndicate, which holds three claims, 10468, 10469, 10470, mineral claim10468 being known as Holmess Block, situated about nine miles from Cop-ley, and 1| miles E. of Mount Coffin. There is a series of shallow workings extending over some distance, inwhich copper minerals can be seen. Bleached and decomposed clay slates are impregnated with green carbo-nate of copper. The deepest shaft is said to be 100ft. Some ore was beingobtained from shallow workings about 42ft. deep. The copper minerals are evenly distributed through the slates, so thatthere is no possibility of dressing or picking the ore to improve the grade, hence it must be considered as a low-grade MOUNTAIN OF LIGHT COPPER MINE. MAIN SHAFT AND PORTION OF WORKINGS.
