Jordan, Wadi Rum Protected Area, Jabal al-Mazmar (The Mountain of Plague), was named The Seven Pillars of Wisdom in 1980's after book by Lawrence the Wadi Rum Protected Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mountain is composed of Um Sahn sandstone with a base layer of basalt.
