Westland Lysander MKIII, Flying Legends Airshow, Imperial War Museum Duxford

The Westland Lysander was a British army air co-operation and liaison aircraft used during WWII. The aircraft's exceptional short takeoff and landing performance enabled clandestine missions using small, unprepared airstrips behind enemy lines to drop or recover agents, particularly in occupied France with the help of the French Resistance. The name derives from the Spartan general Lysander.
