Mount Coonowrin (Crookneck) at 377metres high is part of the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. The mountains were named after (Royal Navy) Captain James Cook on his discovery of the East coast of Australia on board his ship HM Bark Endeavour in 1770. The mountains were so called as the shape of the mountains reminded him of the huge glass furnaces (glasshouses) back in his native Yorkshire in Britain
