Here has this lady, single-handed,been for more than twenty years trying toinstil some elementary knowledge of theirinsect foes into British farmers and fruit-growers. The feeble leaflets issued by thedepartment are a remarkable contrast tothe excellent reports of Miss Ormerod, thenineteenth of which is now before us. Ifthese were circulated by Government aidthrough all village schools in rural districts,and intelligently explained by the teachers,much good might be attained. A leadingfeature of the report just issued is an articleon flies injurious to horses and cattle. It isaccompanied by two finely-drawn plates ofthe foot of forest-fly (Hippobosca equina) fromtwo a
