Night sky over BOOTES dome at Yunnan Astronomical Observatory, Yunnan, China. This dome houses part of the Burst Observer and Optical Transient Exploring System (BOOTES), a network of astronomical observatories with sites in southern Spain, New Zealand and China. BOOTES makes automated and rapid observations of optical emissions from gamma ray bursts (GRBs). In the night sky is the constellation of Orion (top), with Orion's Belt at upper centre and Betelguese at upper left. The star Sirius is near the horizon at lower right. The bright patch at upper right is the Orion Nebula (M42). Photographed on 26 December 2013.
