Jackal Inlay 664–30 Late Period–Ptolemaic Period This inlay of a recumbent jackal was found with the shrine inlay on which it originally would have perched. This jackal likely represented either Anubis, the chief god of embalming, or Wepwawet, the "Opener of the Ways" who escorted the deceased into the Jackal Inlay 550938
