In fact, it is the only really good yel- low-fleshed watermelon in cultivation. The illus- tration, engraved from a photograph, exactly shows the shape, which is nearly round. The speci- men from which this pho- tograph was taken meas- ured thirteen inches in length by nine and a half inches in diameter, and is a fair average of the crop, although some specimens are of larger size, reaching as high as twenty-five pounds each in weight. The skin is very dark green in color, the rind is very thin, barely half an inch thick, and the flesh is of fine quality almost down to the skin. The color of the flesh is a rich vellow gold or bright straw yellow, melting and sugary in quality, and placed on the table makes'a pleasing contrast with the red-fleshed Watermelons. We have found the variety to be perfectly pure and true to name, and take pleasure in recommending it.
