View of Generator Explosion of a Large Steam Turbine. THE accompanying illustrations are of parts of the wreck of a3,000 K. W. turbo generator at the plant of the ConnecticutLight & Power Company, Waterbury, Connecticut. This ma-chine was destroyed by an accident which occurred on November 19,1919, in which, most unfortunately, two men were killed and nineothers more or less severely injured. The cause of the accident hasnot yet been definitely determined, we believe, but that it was of aviolence and suddenness characteristic of an explosion is evidencedby the complete disruption of the machine, as our illustrations show. The accident has been the subject of an investigation by the Con-necticut Public Utilities Commission. According to a published ab-stract of the report of the Commissions engineer, Mr. A. E. Knowlton,the machine was in operation at 1:15 p. m. on November 19th. andapparently carrying its load in a normal manner. At about that time,the statio
