Cohabiting ant species. Pyramica maynei (small red ants) and Platythyrea conradti (large black ants) are African ant species that live in the same hollow crevices and dead branches of trees in tropical forests. These have a commensal relationship, where one species benefits from the other without damaging it. P. maynei benefits by feeding on the remains of P conradti's meals, which usually consists of moth caterpillars and small winged insects.
