Throughall this realm of truth and poetry men havepassed and repassed these many years, Isaid to myself; and I began to wonderhow many of those now long asleep reallysaw or heard this great glad world of sunand summer! I began slowly to retracemy steps, and as I reached the summit ofthe hill and looked beyond I saw the cattlestanding knee-deep in the brook that loitersacross.
