Large statue of a lotus flower(with real lotus flowers on a floating planter in the background) stands in front of Hoan Kiem Lake in the historical center of Hanoi, Vietnam. Hoan Kiem means Returned Sword, after a magic sword reputed to have been used by the Vietnamese emperor against the Chinese in battles. This major scenic spot is also home to large soft-shelled turtles that are actually occasionally spotted.
