Semans, are not able at present to keep up withtheir orders. The capacity is about 2,000feet per day, and about 100 men are givensteady employment. The Hygeia Crystal Ice Companys plantis worthy of mention. The company operat-ing this plant was organized several yearsago, and since that time have been carryingon an extensive business. It is said to be thesecond ice plant erected in the State of Penn-sylvania, and it is equipped in the most con-venient and substantial manner. All the ma-chinery is of the finest make, and it is induplicate. This has been done in order toguard against stoppage in case of accident, avery important point in an ice factory, as theymust be kept running during the heated sea-son. A very imjiortant part of the plant isthe cold storage dcpartmenf, where at the. The public buildings thoroughly sustainthe reputation of the place. The stone jail,one of the best of its kind in Pennsylvania,was completed in 1890 at a cost of $106, court-house, a substantial and artisticstone structure, ninety-one feet front, andone hundred and fifteen feet deep, is threestories high, with a basement and tower, thelatter of which rises to a height of more thantwo hundred feet.
