A pair of prometopidia, Greco-Roman, 5th/4th century A pair of protective bronze chamfrons with the brows, eyes, and eye shades in heavy stylized relief. Surrounded by perforations for attaching the backing. Greenish blue patina, corrosion with remnants of dirt. Many repaired defects on both pieces. The backs reinforced with fiberglass. Well-preserved, original excavation discovery. Lengths 42 - cm. Max. width 13 - cm. Provenance: Axel Guttmann Collection, Berlin (without inventory number). Cf. F.
