Looking NW at the nave of St Peter's 7th-century chapel built of reused Roman materials on the W gateway of Othona Roman fort; Roman road approaches from the W (L) & the position of the apse (chancel) & one of the side chapels (porticus) is just visible in the grass. It formed part of St Cedd's Anglo-Saxon monastery, served as a beacon-house in Tudor times, later as a barn and is now used as a chapel again by the Othona Community.
