Radiation monitor testing. Worker using radioactive filter paper to test a radiation monitoring device (lower left). The filter paper was soaked in a radioactive liquid prepared from a radioactive source (stored in the shielded box, lower right). The monitor is a form of Geiger-Muller tube. It is a Mini 900 EP15 ratemeter from the Thermo Electron Corporation (now Thermo Scientific). Photographed as part of work carried out by the UK's Health Protection Agency.
