Thelid is about 3^ inches across, ovate acuminate, with aglossy sheen on the inner surface and a network of redveins. The flowers are about 4 inches in diameter;bracts obtuse, boat-like, green, with white edges. Thesepals are narrow at the base, ovate-oblong, the marginsstrongly recurved ; greenish, flushed with red. Thepetals are twice the length of the sepals, broad at thebase, oblong-obovate, constricted, and bent below themiddle; the base of the petal is white, the remaining. The ovaryis ovate truncate, 5-lobed and tubercled, the disc ofthe style 3 inches across, green, the five lobes deltoidlanceolate, deeply notched. Both pitchers and flowersshow the cross between the characteristics of the twoparents. ? S. WiLLlAMSi X, Hort. Williams. This is supposed to be a natural hybrid between and S. flava. It was imported by Mr. B. with a consignment of S. flava. The pitchersare 9—12 inches high, erect, bright hght green, streakedand veined with crimson, with a broad lid like that ofS. purpurea. The flowers, for specimens of which weare indebted to Mr. Williams, are nearly 5 inches across,with ovate obtuse rather flat reddish-brown bracts aboutli inch long. The sepals are narrow at the base, ovateoblong, slightly bent back at the margins, reddish-brownout
