DIC Kawamura Memorial Museum of Art is a private art museum established in the 1980s to display works of art collected by the three generations of the Kawamura family, including Kijuro Kawamura, the founder of DIC Corporation. It also features a large strolling garden with a pond. The garden takes advantage of the topography of the Satoyama area. Walking along the path along the pond leads to a wide lawn, a nature trail, and a pond garden that is thought to be inspired by Monet's "Water Lilies." The garden was created by Isao Yoshikawa, head of the Japanese Garden Study Group. The Kawamura Memorial Museum of Art houses a diverse collection of modern and contemporary art, including 20th century contemporary art. The building was designed by modernist architect Ichiro Ebihara, who also worked on Tokyo's Kensei Memorial Hall.
