Marine Maj. Scott Shideler explains the capabilities of an MV-22 Osprey to several high school students as part of the 2017 Summer Leadership and Development Academy at Marine Helicopter Squadron One aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., July 17. Participants were allowed to board the static display shortly thereafter to see the inside. The SLCDA is a six-day summer program designed to prepare rising high school juniors and seniors for college by introducing them to Marine Corps skills, ethics, character development, teamwork and camaraderie. Shideler is an Osprey pilot for HMX-1.
