Fever tree (Acacia xanthophloea). Early settlers observed that people camping near or under this tree often contracted malaria and thus wrongly associated the fever with the tree, hence its name. The real reason for the occurrence of malaria in fact because the tree grows next to lakes, swampy areas and depressions, where mosquitoes choose to breed.
