A magnificent chiselled Italian sword,circa 1600 A double-edged blade with a lenticular cross-section,and openwork triple fullers in the upper quarter of the blade. Added ricassos. A knucklebow hilt lavishly cut on the obverse side with grotesque masks amid acanthus leaves. The lower guard loop is brass soldered. Grip cover has fine iron wire winding and braided ferrules. Round pommel cut on both sides with warrior heads.
