. Agricultural societies newsletter. Agriculture. A Tip of the Hat and a Toot of the Horn Congratulations on presenting the 25th Hanna Agricultural Society Fair and a great fair it was. A tip of the hat to Albert & Rodina Storch who have been on the Board of Directors in one role or another since the first fair in 1964. Other directors and long-time service are Calton Viste, Jo McCullough & Norm Storch. This does not end the list of volunteers who have worked hard to provide the community with a first class fair, although not named, their service has been invaluable. Hanna's 25th Anniversary parade was an example of community support. Businesses and local clubs and individuals cooperated to show off their services and their community as they featured the fair theme, "Salute to our Coaches". The agricultural society sponsors the annual fair, Farmers Market, Agricultural tours, workshops. The Big Potato contest. Country & Town Garden Competitions, agriculture education programs, memorial fund and helps sponsor the 4-H calf sale in June. Although the Agricultural Society does not own and operate a facility, they have financially supported the construction of the old arena in 1973 and the new arena/curling complex in 1979. They also provided funding for debt retirement on the town-owned arena complex. This was provided through locally raised funds, the Alberta Agriculture Capital grant and Alberta Lottery funds to agricultural societies. They set a trend by contributing their first $25, to support Starr Ambulance service. The library, cemetery. Stage West Theatre and the new Allied Arts Centre have also received funds from the agricultural society. ROUND HILL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY Signage above each category names the judge and the community they originate from. I'm told this eliminates a lot of questions and dissention and it's a great way to acknowledge your judges. Example: Judge for this category was June Smith - Camrose, Alberta. GETTING
