Students in their ceremonial senior pants walking in Bergen Norway. High school graduates hold a series of festivities from May 1 to the Norwegian National Day, on May 17, in a tradition over three hundred years old. Called russ, high school graduates each year wear red, blue, white or black overalls while running through the streets to celebrate the end of thirteen years of school. The students party vigorously during these days but also do good works such as collecting money for charity. The colors signify the area of future study of the student ... red for liberal arts, blue for business, white for social studies, black for engineering.
