Ihis large and conspicuous fungus seems to occur very rarely. It 379. Fig. 30. Polyporus R 02 a. has only been found in a few places on woody ground under beech-trees. Its sporophores grow out of large sclerotia which are often aslarge in the soil as paving stones (Sclerotium giganteum).
