Ele-vated Railway, goes to that propertywith a long record of successful under-takings in engineering and manage-ment in the Central West, coupled withimportant achievements in the matterof public relations between the com-panies with which he has served andthe communities based upon the foun-dation of fairness and amiability. Hehas been in the East now for two yearsas vice-president and general managerof the Boston & Worcester Street Rail-way, South Framingham, Mass., andhis selection to the position at Bostonis conclusive evidence that the recordwhich he made in the West has beenreflected in his management of the. C. D. EMMONS Boston & Worcester line and will againbe reflected in the handling of BostonElevated matters coming within hisprovince. Mr. Emmons was born inLafayette, Ind., in 1871. He livedeighteen years in Pittsburgh and wasgraduated from the Western Universityof Pennsylvania with the degree ofcivil engineer. After graduation heentered the service of the PennsylvaniaRailroad as a rodman, and was ad-vanced to the position of supervisor ofsignals for the territory around Phila-delphia. In 1900 he was appointedgeneral superintendent of the Lafay-ette (lnd.) City Railway, and inJuly, 1903, he was appointed generalsuperintendent of the Fort Wayne &Wabash Valley Traction Company andsuperintendent of construction of theOhio & Indiana Construction Company,which was then building the FortWayne, Van Wert & Lima April, 1905, he was appointed gen-eral manager of the Fort Wayne &Wabash Valley Traction Company,which operates 212 miles of line.
