Protein analysis. Technician placing an electrophoresis gel band into a eppendorf tube. This band contains a specific protein that has been isolated by SDS (sodium dodecyl sulphate) polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). SDS-PAGE is used to analyse the protein composition of cells and tissues. A sample is placed into a gel that has an electrical current passed through it, which separates the sample's proteins based on their differences in size and charges.
