Loudspeakers were hung from this tree to drown out the cries of the victims being executed at Choeung Ek (The Killing Fields) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is estimated that 17,000 men, women, and children were brutally executed here by the Khmer Rouge between 1975 and 1978.
