South face of Kintore Church Class I Pictish symbol stone, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK, incised with a fish above a triple disc & bar representing a cauldron. The plan view shows a circular bronze cauldron with ring handles suspended on a cross bar which goes over the inner edges of the rings & under their outer edges. The fish is most likely a salmon, often used as a symbol of wisdom. The stone is & this carving dates from the C6th or C7th century AD. Rather crudely drawn on the opposite face are a crescent and V-rod above a beast: it is unusual to have symbols on both faces of a Pictish stone.
