Leaves from a Sketch-Book - Bits of Kent: Shoreham, 1876. 'Down the steep and winding village street, as I loiter awaiting the train from Sevenoaks, I have leisure to examine the front of some ancient dwelling-houses, or to follow the rushing stream that hurries to the bottom of the hill. It is growing dark at last when I take my seat in the railway carriage, by which I return to London, having got the full benefit of a Saturday half-holiday among these 'Bits of Kent'.'
