This Monastery of Poblet was built in the XII century and is protected by a wall. It’s the reference and the prototype of all cister abbeys in Spain. It has been restored several times and in 1940 the monks came back to live in the building. The Monastery is made of 3 walled spaces containing a church, a cloister, and a palace beside the part of the building dedicated to a cellar and storage. Various architectural styles, from romanic to baroque can be appreciated. The Monastery was declared Patrimony of Humanity by the Unesco in 1991.
