The future King Edward VII enjoys amateur theatricals involving 'blacked up' sailors. 'The "Evening Entertainment" was a performance of the amateur troop of Christy Minstrels, under the able management of Lieutenant Smith-Dorrien, Our Illustration shows the pretty little stage erected on the poop, with his Royal Highness seated in an easy-chair to the left of the table in the middle'.
